Miniature Daffs

These miniature Daffodils have been planted on grassy slopes in the Parkland where I walk.
I thought it would be appropriate to post them for Easter Sunday.

The Flower Arranger

I know - not more Siskin.

I found a small flock high up in a flowering tree on my walk. This was the same tree I photographed a pair of Bullfinch the other day.
If the weather ever warms up, this is the same tree in previous years where I have found Peacock butterflies on the flowers.

A few images from my recent walk around the Parkland.

Did someone say it was Spring.??

Snowy Birds - From the Window

The latest in my series of "From the Window".

Snow on the 24th of March. This is supposed to be Spring.
The Collared Dove below looks thoroughly dejected.

Here below are our almost resident Siskin.
I suppose they will only stay until the weather improves.
Although they are a little smaller than most of the birds that visit the seed feeder, they don't get  bothered or pushed around by the other birds including the much larger Greenfinch.

Siskin Trio

I have recently read various reports and observed posts created by a number of fellow Bloggers about the numerous sightings of Siskin this Winter. I usually see some small flocks on my walks at this time, but never in our garden. It was only recently (for the first occasion) I observed one male Siskin in the tree outside the lounge window, which I posted images of at

Just to support the reports of frequent sightings, this weekend three Siskin turned up outside the lounge window and visited the seed feeder on many occasions during the day. This was an occasion that couldn't be overlooked so here are some of the images I took of this colourful bird.
The good news is that they continue to visit.

Red-legged Partridge

The Red Leg is never easy to approach when in open ground.
They will run away at a rate of knots or take flight and glide away if they have no other option.
I was able to sneak up on this one from the car window. Even then it was pure luck and he would never face towards me.

The Red Leg is the more common species of our Partridge.
The rare species is the Grey Partridge, which is more difficult to find let alone photograph, something I have not managed for quite some time.
