More Flora from a Woodland Walk

Another walk through the Woodland produced a batch of flower images.

Cowslip (Primula veris)

Common Dog Violet (Viola riviniana)
NB. I read that it is the county flower of Lincolnshire.

Lady's  Smock (Cardamine pratensis)
or Cuckoo Flower

Marsh Marigold (Caltha palustris)
another common name Kingcups.

Lesser Celandine (Ranunculus ficaria)

Wood Anemone (Anemone nemorosa)

A flower below I can never remember the name of and have to look it up in the book.

Common Mouse-ear (Cerastium fontanum)

Wild Primrose (Primula vulgaris)

Small-flowered Crane's-bill
(Geranium pusillum)

Green Alkanet
(Pentaglottis sempervirens)

A Hybrid White bell.

I have found more of these this year in various locations than ever before.

More camera trickery.{:))

Orange is the Colour

I know "Not more butterflies".

Well I think that when you have so many Orange Tip flying this year you have to make the best of it.
They do make a lovely subject.

Lumix GH3. 100-300mm lens. 1/640 at f8. 300mm. ISO200

These four shots below I took of one male that was pitched on a Cuckoo Flower and there was water in the background. I couldn't get a better angle than this as I would have blocked out the sun and it would have disturbed the butterfly. Of course it would stay on the opposite side all the time as thats where the open flowers were.

Sneaky Beaky

Mr Pheasant

By the time I got to a position to take these shots, two of his Harem had disappeared.
He strolled nonchalantly on through the undergrowth.

Woodland Walk - Butterflies and Bluebells

A woodland walk that revealed much to see with several butterflies and flowers to photograph.

Peacock Butterfly

A pair of Blue Tits which from what I could see was the male chasing after the female.
Well it is that time of year.

The Bluebells are well out now.

Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly

This looks like Crab-apple blossom.

No Thrush to be seen, but I found his Anvil where he smashes snail shells open to eat the contents.

This Dunnock below was singing, not with his usual full repertoire, but a few faint short notes.

Green-veined White Butterfly

A Crows Nest which was inhabited.

Wispy clouds

Brimstone Butterfly

Comma Butterfly out from hibernation.

Orange Tip Butterfly

Not quite a White bell, but still interesting to have found a new one in a different area.
